Ageless Edition – Women Who RAWK Fridays!

email

Welcome to Women Who RAKW Fridays!

This week I’m talking Ageless.  Why?  Because when I see women who rawk into their 70′s, 80′s and 90′s I think to myself:  ”I want to be THAT!”

The Golden Girl

Oh, yeah… Who could be more ageless than the Golden Girl herself, Betty White.  This week Betty White turned 90.  Yes, I’ll repeat that 90 years old.

She is still showing up in a regular television series called Hot in Cleveland.  And she is still showing up in movies and commercials.  Imagine having a lucrative acting career at 90!

Her advice:

“A lot of people think this is a goodie two-shoes talking,” she said. “But we do have a tendency to complain rather than celebrating who we are. I learned at my mother’s knee it’s better to appreciate what’s happening…I think we kind of talk ourselves into the negative sometimes.”

She looks together, beautiful and full of energy.  It’s amazing and every time I see her I think:  ”I want to be just like HER!”

Betty White RAWKS!

Ida Sprints!

Ida Keeling recently set a world record sprint time.  She ran the 60 meter sprint in 29.86 seconds.

Is that fast?

I’d say that’s SUPER fast considering Ida is 95 years old.  Yes, 95.

Amazing!

Here’s what she told ABC News:

“My secret is, feel good about yourself [and] have a good attitude about yourself. … Do what you need to do, and not what you want to do, or what you’d like to do,” she said.

“I just close my eyes and say, ‘Count your blessings Ida, count your blessings.’ Stay alert, stay focused, and that’s it. It clears up a whole lot of things. You’d be surprised.”

Wow!

I want to be just like Ida when I grow up!

The Message?

Clearly it’s all about attitude.  They both tout the benefits of having a good positive outlook and I agree.

So give yourself some credit for all you’ve done and all you hope to do, you’ll get there!

Until next time… keep it Red.Hot!

Seems you can claim the world’s oldest yoga teacher, too, in one Bernice Bates who at 91 years old still teaches once a week at the community centre of her Florida retirement village. :-)

My dear friend and mentor Dadi Janki of the World Spiritual University is around 96 years old, (Indian women of her age often don’t have formal birth certificates) and still travels the world inspiring and teaching thousands of people. She was recently seen dancing on stage at her birthday party :-)

Here is a video of her (wait for the translation after she speaks) speaking of Meditation and Longevity
